The current US administration negotiated $60 million dollars in recognition of the strong partnership between the United States and the United Arab Emirates, allowing the USA’s participation in the upcoming World Expo Dubai. Expos, also known in the United States as World’s Fairs, are significant opportunities to showcase American freedom, ideals, enterprise, culture, and global leadership.
Youth Ambassadors (U.S. citizens ages 18-29) serve as guides and cultural ambassadors at the U.S. Pavilion. These energetic, friendly individuals will serve as the Faces of the United States to millions of Expo visitors.
Cultural Performers – including representatives from dance, music, theater, literature, art, food, sports, spoken word, and more – will be selected to represent their region as ambassadors of U.S. culture. Through their service, these performers will provide a program at the U.S. Pavilion that embodies the geographic and cultural richness of the United States and its territories, tell the story of the United States, and engage Expo visitors through scheduled and informal engagements. Performances will vary in size from speakers and solo artists to larger groups of up to 30 performers.
All expenses will be covered, and time commitments range from one week for Cultural Performers, to three to six months for Youth Ambassadors.

YOUTH AMBASSADORS
Global Ties U.S. is accepting applications for Youth Ambassadors (U.S. citizens ages 18-29) to serve as guides and cultural ambassadors at the U.S. Pavilion. These energetic, friendly individuals will serve as the Faces of the United States to millions of Expo visitors, providing a human connection to the United States and its territories and reflecting its geographic and cultural diversity.
Youth Ambassadors can expect to have daily encounters with international visitors who may speak one or several languages. The ideal Youth Ambassador is multilingual in English and one of the following languages: Arabic, Mandarin, Farsi, Hindi, Russian, and Urdu. Additional language skills in Bengali, French, or Spanish may also be useful. While an asset, language abilities are not an application requirement for Youth Ambassadors. All applications will be reviewed, regardless of language skills.
A total of 75 Youth Ambassadors will be selected and assigned to one of three cohorts:
- 24 to serve in Fall 2021 (September-January)
- 24 to serve in Spring 2022 (January-April)
- 27 to serve the “Full-Term” of the Expo from September 2021-April 2022
All Youth Ambassadors can expect to receive a weekly stipend of $300/week while involved in the program. This stipend covers the cost of any additional food outside of work, any optional travel or entertainment on off days, and any other living expenses that may occur. Additionally, except during the incoming transition for the Spring 2022 cohort, all Youth Ambassadors will be housed at the Expo Village, meaning no commuting cost to or from the U.S. Pavilion.
Youth Ambassadors who opt to serve in the Full-Term cohort (September 2021-April 2022) will be eligible to receive a $1,500 USD Service Completion Bonus upon successful completion of their service. Only participants in the Full-Term cohort will be eligible to receive this benefit.
CULTURAL PERFORMERS
Global Ties U.S. is seeking Cultural Performers to perform at the U.S. Pavilion. Cultural Performers – including representatives from dance, music, theater, literature, art, food, sports, spoken word, and more – will be selected from across the United States and its territories to represent their region as ambassadors of U.S. culture. Through their service, these performers will provide a program at the U.S. Pavilion that embodies the geographic and cultural richness of the United States and its territories, tell the story of the United States, and engage Expo visitors through scheduled and informal engagements. Performances will vary in size from speakers and solo artists to larger groups of up to 30 performers.
Global Ties U.S. will select approximately 390 Cultural Performers and 84 total acts to perform at Expo 2020. Each act is expected to participate in a minimum of four performance engagements and will be in Dubai for five to seven days.
